Instructions:
See the patient (obviously). This is called an encounter.
Write the note. Notes need to be documented in a way to reflect the CPT code you bill out.
Upcode if you can. For example, your encounter note is a 99203 or 99243. Can extra be done so you can document a higher code? Is the MDM complicated? Bill a 99205 or 99245 baller.
Write your note. Enter the CPT code and ICD10 code.
Set your charges. Typical charges are 2x to 5x Medicare rate. Use lowpayer to find the Medicare rate.
Create the CMS 1500 file with your EMR or manually (sign up for OfficeAlly free). Enter your charges.
Upload the CMS 1500 free through the clearinghouse OfficeAlly free.
Wait for direct deposit.
If rejected, find out what went wrong and start over. This is the main reason some providers choose a biller to help. Average rate is 5% of your collections.
